Bruges Weather and Bruges Climate Information
(Bruges, West Flanders, Belgium, BE)
The climate of Bruges is rarely extreme, meaning that any time is a good time to pay the city a visit, particularly since many of the main attractions remain open all through the year. Spring is always a popular time to visit Bruges, when the colder winter weather soon quickly disappears and the Belgian flora bursts into life.
The Easter celebrations at the main churches, such as both Saint Anne's Church and St. Giles Church, are something to look out for each April, as is the famed Bruges Chocolate Festival. Daytime temperatures by the end of April are starting to climb quickly and soon reach 14°C / 57°F, and the climate warms up and indicates that the summer weather is not far behind.
Bruges Weather and Climate: Seasonal Variations - Bruges, Belgium, BE
July and August are always the hottest months in Bruges and this has long been the city's main peak for tourism, when the frequent sunny weather means that the city is at its most appealing. With Antwerp and Brussels close by, along with the coast and the Zeebrugge harbour, many people staying nearby choose to visit Bruges for a day trip or short break.
Summer highs of more than 24°C / 75°F or 25°C / 77°F are not unusual in Bruges and this pleasant climate results in endless outdoor activities and events. By November and December, the nights have become decidedly chilly, although only occasional frosty weather can be expected. January tends to be the coldest month in Bruges, when the winter climate is at its harshest, and at times it is even possible to ice skate on the frozen canals, although daytime temperatures can feel fairly mild and often exceed 5°C / 41°F or even 6°C / 43°F.
